Keep Scotland Beautiful strikes gold at Britain in Bloom awards

We’re thrilled to celebrate with our client Keep Scotland Beautiful after a series of successes for their Scottish entrants to the UK Britain in Bloom awards ceremony which took place on October 12th. The Beautiful Scotland awards are used to identify the cream of Scottish horticultural achievement, and Keep Scotland Beautiful were hopeful of some home grown success at UK level.

In the event, five Scottish entries secured gold awards:

  • Edinburgh won the Large City category
  • Coupar Angus won the Large Village category
  • Aberdour won the Coastal (up to 12,000 population) category
  • North Berwick won the RHS Champion of Champions category
  • Glenrothes picked up Gold in the Large Town category

In addition, Blairgowie & Rattray were awarded a Silver Gilt in the Town category, Uddingston took silver in the Urban Community category and Glenrothes were presented with the RHS Britain in Bloom Horticultural Award for the best horticultural displays.

This is a fantastic endorsement of the ongoing work being carried out by Keep Scotland Beautiful as they nurture communities through their Beautiful Scotland awards.

A team of fourteen volunteer judges toured the UK in pairs at the end of July and early August visiting each of the finalists. They assessed entries on three main criteria – horticultural achievement, community participation and environmental responsibility.
