SCDI launches strategic growth plan with focus on the future ahead of 2018 Forum

3rd & 4th May 2018: Imagining the Blueprint for a Post-Digital Economy

The Scottish Council for Development and Industry is launching a strategic new focus on Scotland’s economic future ahead of its 2018 Forum. SCDI has announced next year’s event will take place on 3rd and 4th May in Edinburgh with the theme Imagining the Blueprint for a Post-Digital Economy.

The annual event will convene leaders from Scotland and around the world with the private, public and social economy, alongside politicians, global thinkers and journalists.

Mark Bevan, Chief Executive of SCDI, said:

“Now more than ever it is crucially important that the whole of Scotland is focused on the future economy. Sustainable economic growth is at the very heart of SCDI’s ambitious vision and through our 2018 Forum we will challenge conventional thinking and ask how the actors in our economy can become architects of an economic future which is good for both business and society.”

The agenda for SCDI’s two day Forum will examine key issues including the importance of geographical borders in a digital age, the ability of taxation to meet public service demand and delivering economic growth and carbon reduction all within the context of the changing relationships between business, politics and society in the delivery of growth for everyone, everywhere.

As part of its focus on the future, SCDI has announced the creation of a number of key new roles to support the organisation’s growth strategy to further raise its game and develop its network which provides a dynamic and creative force for change.

Mark Bevan added:

“As an organisation, SCDI is going through some big changes to ensure we reflect the level of ambition we have with investment in people and technology. We work in a very dynamic and ambitious environment and we’re looking to grow our team through the creation of new posts which will complement and strengthen our existing offer.”

To meet the growing long-term challenge, SCDI is recruiting to the new roles of communications director, policy analyst and membership & events administrator.
